Day 4

Hello from Grand Canyon National Park!

For me, camping in GCNP was a drastic improvement from the ni1ght before. But that is only because I had Trent's super warm camping bag (thanks Doc!). Chris said he slept a lot worse than when we camped in New Mexico, and Bryan thought he had frostbite on his toes. Well, we got moving and headed towards the canyon before 10 am.

The Grand Canyon. One word - indescribable. We hiked around the South Rim, and I was surprised by how wooded it was. There were a lot of trees, shrubs and grass, and that didn't match with the images I had been accustomed to seeing.
I was also surprised by how big the canyon was. Some of you are probably thinking, "Well of course it is big. It's the Grand Canyon!" Seriously, it is BIG, much bigger than I could have imagined.
We had an amazing time following the little trials that run alongside the rim, and about half way through we started laughing at each other when one would say, "Wow, that's picture-worthy." There was no doubt, every view was picture-worthy.

Bryan and I also learned that Chris is a mountain goat. Every time we noticed that Chris was missing, we would start looking up or towards the closest edge/brush-with-death. I won't post a crazy picture, because as soon as Mrs. Debbie saw it she would call him with some "motherly advice." He is a wild man.

Then we tore off towards Las Vegas. It was a fun, fast drive. We never realized it when we were planning the trip, but we had to drive right over Hoover Dam - an unexpected, pleasant surprise.
We rolled into Vegas just before nightfall, and checked into the Excalibur (thanks Mr. Chuck!) with plenty of time to go out into the night.
We had a great time, gamble at a few different casinos and saw Vegas at night, which is really the only way it should be seen. Some of us won some money (Bryan), and some of us lost some money (me and Chris), but all in all it was an awesome night.

"Lions! Let's go Lions!" (See the MGM lion over Bryan's shoulder? Amanda will get that joke.)

Ok. We're about to head out into the night again. As of now, I am very proud of the fact that the blog is up-to-date. Hopefully, I'll get another post up some time tomorrow.
Alright, we're going to give away some money, and have a lot more fun.

  1. Haahaha..the part about Chris being a mountain goat and Bryan getting frostbite on his toes made me literally 'LOL' in class..luckily the teacher was saying something that was supposed to be funny at the same moment & other ppl were laughing, so I didn't get any weird looks. Your hotel looks ridiculous! I want to stay there when I go to Vegas!
