UO has a really pretty campus, and the stadium was impressive. But much like UGA at this time of year, it was kind of a ghost town.
We drove into Oklahoma City a little bit before 3 pm CST, parked, and decided to walk into “Bricktown” which is basically a fairly large section of the city in which every building is made out of – you guessed it – brick. It was really cool because there is this small canal that snakes around the different buildings, bars and restaurants.
Not long after leaving Oklahoma City, we crossed into the Lone Star state. I’ve read that Texas is a country all unto itself, and my first experience is making me a believer. We saw “orchards” of those massive wind turbines I had only seen in pictures. And to match their scale, we drove by what (at least the sign claimed) is the largest cross in the southern hemisphere.
I guess they were right, everything is bigger Texas.
At present time, we are driving in New Mexico and it is completely dark. I’m worried that pitching the tent could be a major pain, but we’ll see. I don’t think there will be any campfire talk tonight, we’re all pretty tired.
Highlight of the Day:
I hate posting this, but I was out-voted . . .
2:34 pm: I rolled down the window to spit, something in my mouth went wrong, and I watched the spit splatter on the inside of the window and slowly slide down. Chris and Bryan howled in laughter. I asked them to hand me a paper towel so I could wipe it off, but instead they got their cameras out and took a picture. True friends!
Sorry it has taken me so long to post an update. Wifi is scarce on the road. I'll post three more updates tomorrow. It's already a little late and Vegas waits for no man!
Have fun in VEGAS!!
