The tent was next to my car. We pulled the car around, trying to block the wind. It didn't work.
Chris started off driving, and we got into Albuquerque a little bit before 10 am MST. Albuquerque sits down in this little valley between a small mountain range and some bluffs created by the Rio Grande that runs to its west. A friend recommended that we eat at a restaurant called Frontier. Great advice! I had a succulent green chili cheeseburger, a meal that Albuquerque is known for and one that I had always wanted to try. Mission accomplished. Frontier is really just a Tex-Mex version of the Varsity. It is located directly across the street from the University of New Mexico, so Bryan, Chris and I almost blended in with all the other college students. I say almost because we were a little hungrier, smellier and wide-eyed than everybody else.
We finally drove into the Grand Canyon National Park around 7 pm Pacific Time. Unlike yesterday, we had plenty of time to set up the tent before it got dark, so the process was a lot easier. After that, we ate our 37th peanut butter and jelly sandwich of the trip, built a fire and just relaxed.
We’re about to crawl into our sleeping bags. We are completely exhausted and the temperature has dropped to 35 degrees. Cold!
Instead of the "Highlight of the Day", we'll have a funny picture . . .
Rise and shine!
Rise and Shine, Dude. LOL. ****
